Our favorite part of the holidays is entertaining family and friends. We go to great lengths to make our guests feel just as comfortable in our home as they do in their own. We asked Mary Jo, one of our best customers, to tell us how she prepares her home for the holidays.
My family moved to Shenandoah, Iowa over 30 years ago and we rehabbed an 1892 Victorian home full of charm. This home lives for Christmas and is so much fun to decorate. A large lighted tree in our front bay window, lots of little white lights and plenty of greenery throughout. I add a little Christmas decor to each room which makes our home look and feel so magical. My husband is in charge of lighting the outside and it takes my breath away each year! We have so many happy memories raising our boys here and entertaining family and friends over the holidays.
Our sons are grown now with their own families, so getting them back for the holidays, every few years, is precious. Their childhood memories help put everyone in the holiday spirit! This always includes cooking their favorite meals, and of course lots of Christmas cookies . . . because after all, food is love! We want our time spent together, with family or friends, to be fun and relaxing. A time to reconnect and recharge their batteries for a much needed break from the busy lives we all lead. It’s important that everyone has their own sanctuary to relax and get a good night sleep. A comfortable bed and bedding are essential.
